We’re looking for volunteers to assist us with editing, designing, outreach, and marketing!

Staff Details

Staff assignments may vary and rotate according to availability, allowing us to accommodate everyone's schedules. All positions have a relatively low time commitment, with an exception for our editorial and design team during issue reading and development periods. Please note that all positions are unpaid.

  • This position involves editing and critiquing literary and/or art submissions before publication. You may choose either category to specialize in when applying. Prior editing experience is required for this position.

    Time commitment: 2-4 hours per week.

  • This position involves designing issue layouts and graphics for Chartium's magazine issues. Graphic design experience is required, and proficiency in using Canva (or a similar software) is highly preferred.

    Time commitment: 1-2 hours per week during issue development periods.

  • This position involves drafting cold emails and researching potential writers, artists, musicians, and filmmakers for interviews. Strong writing and communication skills are essential.

    Time commitment: 1-2 hours per week.

  • This position involves creating engaging Instagram content, in the form of videography, reels, or visual media. Experience in video editing and an understanding of social media trends is preferred.

    Time commitment: 30 mins per week

  • Charlie Ho

    Founder & Editor-in-Chief

    Charlie is a student from Hong Kong aspiring to pursue studies in communications, media, and marketing. An avid writer and dreamer, she is passionate about the humanities and arts, be it literature, history, creative writing, or music composition. In her spare time, you can find her gaining inspiration by experimenting with new baking recipes or playing the piano. She’s ecstatic to work with everyone at Chartium!

  • Jessica Xie

    Literary Editorial Director

    Jessica is a student based in Indiana with a love for all things creative, from crocheting to writing to tech theatre. If she's not busy with too many passion projects, you can find her playing with her two cats or rewatching the Now You See Me series. She is the editorial director for literary submissions at Chartium.

  • Sanjana

    Music Editorial Director

    Sanjana PB is an 18-year-old student from India. While her primary area of interest is medicine and research, she is also passionate about technology, music, literature, and social activism. She is a huge music-lover and loves listening to all kinds of music. She is a trained singer and she also plays the keyboard. She also aspires to create music of her own in the future.

    Firza Hapsari is a writer and English Literature student. She once dreamed of becoming an astrophysicist but turned to writing after realizing math wasn’t her strength. Now, she writes obsessively about God and why He hides behind the stars. Her work has been shortlisted for the Ink of Ages Prize for Fiction 2024, and many more have been published in various magazines. She shares her life with a semi-outdoor cat named Archie.

    Nicky Felicia is a wordsmith with a love for storytelling, social media, and all things creative. Armed with a degree in English Department, she enjoys making words come to life. Whether she’s writing, curating content, or exploring the latest trends, she’s always on the lookout for new ways to bring creativity to the digital world!

    As a high school student in Hong Kong with a passion for creative pursuits, Amanda is always on the lookout for new ways to express herself. With an undying love for literature, music, art, philosophy, and film, she is not one to shy away from challenges or the unknown. She’s a musician, a bibliophile, a dreamer - all rolled into one eccentric bundle of wit and sleep deprivation.

    Giulia Teixeira is a Brazilian writer who has really found her place in English poetry. She has published works in Persimmon Review, Culterate, The Minutes, and upcoming others.   • Sebastian Karall

    Sebastian Karall is an emerging poet and writer from Woodstock, Ontario. He recently graduated from Huron at Western University with a BA in English Literature and creative, where he served as the editor of Huron’s long-standing poetry publication, Grubstreet, for two years. His work has appeared in Yolk, Iconoclast, Symposium, Synaeresis: Arts + Poetry, and previous editions of Grubstreet.

  • Naomi Ferrao

    Naomi Ferrao is a high school student from India, living in Ghana. She works as a Managing Editor at Aster Lit and is the President of Ghana Must Read at her school, an organisation which aims to spread the love of reading throughout the country. She enjoys reading everything from novels to poetry, historical fiction to mystery, and loves a good film too. Aside from reading, she takes part in the grandmotherly hobbies of baking, embroidery, doing word puzzles, and watching Netflix.

    Blythe Smith is a Canadian author, poet, and editor. Smith has a bachelor's degree in creative writing and publishing from Sheridan College. She has been published in literary journals such as B222 Journal, and anthologies such as Inscape: An Anthology. She currently lives in Keswick, Ontario, with her cat Guillotine.

    Isabelle is a young writer based in Boston, Massachusetts. She currently attends Emerson College and is hoping to be a full time author/editor one day.

    Aratrika M is a hard-working student from India whose dedication to reading and editing is only rivalled by her enthusiasm for music. She finds consolation in melodies from the 1980s that accompany coffee-fueled all-nighters. She also enjoys playing wordle and analyzing Shakespearean plays. Whether buried in books or with her headphones on, Aratrika tries to harmoniously balance her life as a student with her many hobbies.

    Amber Mars is a writer, editor, and recent graduate of Texas Tech University. She earned her degree in English Literature that her passion for books led her to pursue. She believes that writing and creating art is an essential part to living. When she is not working, she spends her time reading, crocheting, and playing video games.

    Rabiya is an entrepreneur and graduate student in English Literature from Pakistan, always drawn to the "what ifs" of dystopian worlds and the way stories shape us. She loves deep conversations about literature, psychology, and digital spaces—where identities blur and narratives take on new life. As the former Editor-in-Chief of "The Last Word" at Kinnaird College for Women University, she found her voice in storytelling, a passion she now pours into her clothing startup, turning fashion into a canvas for ideas and self-expression.

    Arunima has always been drawn to the world of art, regardless of its form. Literature, music, performance, or cinema—all of these intrigue her and compel her to immerse herself, and lose herself in the beauty they offer. Writing has been her refuge ever since she was 14, a time when no one seemed interested in the conflicts and hardships of a child. As she is about to graduate from high school, she is ready to face the peculiarities of the real world, and contribute to the society through various artistic endavours.

When she's not consumed by an almost perfect line, though, you can find her fangirling over her favourite artists and appreciating em dashes.

    Phuong is a Media student from Vietnam who thrives for creativity and all things artsy. There's nothing she loves more than Letterboxd reviews, blasting music endlessly and yearning.

    Aanya is an aspiring journalist from London with a fervent affinity for both sharing and hearing stories, whether it’s through a narrative, a poem, or even a conversation. She is an incorrigible addict of manga, The Sims 4, and waffle fries, and when she’s not writing, you can probably find her making yet another unnecessary Spotify playlist or practicing her instruments in her room (๑ᵔ⤙ᵔ๑)

    Kate is a Marketing Officer for Chartium located in Los Angeles, California. She is a performing artist, a singer, a songwriter, and an avid music fan. With a keen interest in the arts – ranging from music to literature, scrapbooking, fashion, and film – she believes Chartium builds a community of like-minded people who are united by life’s greatest gift: creativity! Kate supports the arts and values highlighting the voices of those who don’t feel heard.

    Kianna Wong is a Cantonese high schooler in Toronto, Ontario. Kianna values the power of language when it comes to shaping perspectives and connecting themes to real-world issues. She enjoys diving through literary realism and then crafting synopses to break down complex narratives. Through compositions and writing, Kianna is keen on supporting narratives that shape people’s understanding of health and well-being.

    Elizabeth Jia is a current high school student at Jordan High School. She is a Marketing Officer here at Chartium, and is interested in the marketing as well as public relations industry. She believes social media is an extremely powerful source of both communication and raising awareness for the talents of youth today. When she isn’t creating content on Canva, she spends her time playing tennis, blasting music, and singing.
